Grocery fans who’ve been waiting for years for Wegmans to come to the area finally have a date to circle on the calendar.
The Raleigh Wegmans Food Markets store will open at 7 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29. It’s in the under-construction Midtown East shopping center on Wake Forest Road, just inside the Beltline.
It’s the first North Carolina location for the grocer with a cult-like following.
Wegmans is known for its bread baked fresh daily, fresh seafood, take-home meals, international food selection and elaborate cheese shop. The Raleigh store will include The Burger Bar, an in-store restaurant that will sell sandwiches, soups, salads, beer and wine.
